Core Hunter is a sadistic and ruthless villain who, like Von Nebula, was once a Hero before turning to villainy. Possessing the ability to permanently disable Heroes by removing their Hero Cores, he is one of the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy. His ultimate goal was the complete destruction of the galaxy using the Doom Box, a powerful and volatile artifact. However, his plans were ultimately foiled, and he was captured and imprisoned within the Hero Factory's Villain Storage Facility, where he remains in custody.

Biography[]

Early Life and Departure[]

Many years ago, Core Hunter was created as a Rookie Hero in the Assembly Tower by the Hero Factory. He likely existed before the events of Mission: Legion of Darkness. During his time as a Hero, he developed a strong friendship with Preston Stormer, who had recently become the new leader of the Alpha 1 Team, a position he was given from Thresher after a critical injury during a mission. However, at some point, Core Hunter chose to leave the Hero Factory due to a defect that led him to believe the factory had nothing to offer him. This decision transformed him into a villain, and he rebuilt himself to assume the new identity of Core Hunter.

Career[]

Initially, Core Hunter started out as a small-time thief engaged in stealing and smuggling. However, he subsequently evolved into a notorious bounty hunter, becoming obsessed with Hero Cores. His pursuits included defeating countless Heroes to disable them and showcase his power, resulting in him removing Hero Cores from many Heroes using his newly constructed Core Removal Tool along with constructing a custom Plasma shooter based of Blueprints he smuggled during a heist on a Hero Factory supply ship. As a result, he is regarded as one of the galaxy's most infamous criminals. Core Hunter established numerous hideouts, including one at a refueling station on an unnamed desert planet inhabited by criminals.

Numerous missions to capture Core Hunter have ended in failure. In one instance, he nearly got caught when a Hero sabotaged his getaway vehicle, prompting him to retaliate by destroying the Hero’s Drop Ship and deploying a computer virus to disable all vehicles on the planet. On another occasion, while Stormer and a rookie were engaged in combat with him, Core Hunter seized the rookie's Hero Core. Stormer quickly provided the rookie with a replacement, but Core Hunter used the distraction to escape. Later, he created a duplicate of himself to take his place in perilous situations. Eventually during a burglary on another Supply Ship, Core Hunter was ambushed and sucesfully cuffed by memebers of the Alpha 1 team Natalie breez and Dunkan Buk, where he was stripped of his weapons and sent to the Villain Storage Facility.

Breakout and The Doom Box[]

When Voltix unleashed Von Nebula in the form of a cloud of energy that broke the Black Hole Orb Staff Orb, he created a massive black hole that allowed all Villains to break their security locks and escape the Villain Storage Facility. After escaping, Core Hunter decided to remain in Makuhero City and destroy any Heroes he could find. Dunkan Bulk was assigned to stop him and began a cross-galaxy chase to capture the villain. Core Hunter then travelled to Tansari IV, where he attacked Hero Jimi Stringer, who had just arrested Voltix. Bulk arrives soon after, and chases Core Hunter off world.

Core Hunter then begins his operation to retrieve the fragments of the Doom Box. First, he went to a clerk informant ¨Geb¨, only to find that Bulk and Natalie Breez were already there with the fragment. Core Hunter used anti-gravity devices to retrieve the Doom Box fragment and send Geb into orbit. Bulk fired his Missile Launcher at Core Hunter, but Arctur saved Core Hunter and told him that Heroes were at the fragment located at the mine. Core Hunter rushed to the mine and retrieved the fragment, putting down a thick layer of artificial dust to cover his tracks. Finally, Core Hunter went to the ship containing the third fragment, which was now junked in a ship graveyard. He hired a band of mercenaries to defend against the Alpha 1 Team, who he knew was coming for him. In the cargo bay, Core Hunter assembled two of the fragments but not the third as he had no intention of actually using the Doom Box.

In a standoff with Alpha 1, Core Hunter was attacked by Mark Surge who utilized his Electricity Shooter, giving Core Hunter spasms that caused him to reform the Doom Box accidentally. Arctur appeared and offered to take Core Hunter to where the Doom Box was forged, the only place it could be used. Core Hunter accepted and was teleported there, but soon Arctur and all of Alpha 1 confronted him. After Arctur was killed by Core Hunter, the Heroes goaded the Villain into activating the Doom Box, while Breez used the Hero Core Remover Tool to absorb the Doom Box's energies and render it harmless, inadvertently supercharging the weapon. Core Hunter used his tool to incapacitate the Heroes, except for Surge, who he offered a position in his new empire. Surge instead fired his shooter at Core Hunter, causing the Villain's powers to fold in on himself until his body disappeared.

His Return[]

According to Secret Mission 5: Mirror World and Face-Off: Makuro’s Secret Guidebook, Core Hunter survived his ordeal and resumed his criminal activities, with his Doom Box powers gone, and Bulk went to recapture Core Hunter again. At some point, Core Hunter called Bulk stupid. Bulk made a large display of turning an old factory into a base of operations in a world where Core Hunter had a hideout before, getting his attention. That night, Core Hunter broke in, found Bulk's fake duplicate, confusing it to be the real Bulk while it was actually a spare robot from the Hero Factory with only an active Hero Core, and attacked it. However, Bulk slammed Core Hunter from behind and used Hero Cuffs to capture him, finally recapturing him. Bulk took Core Hunter back to the Hero Factory where for a brief period he shared his cell block with legion of Darkness member Speeda Demon and Karter before Karter got killed. He remains in custody.

Reality 11275.6[]

In this reality, Core Hunter serves as a villain and is part of the inner circle of Von Nebula's Citadel. He was present when the main reality's Alpha Team confronted Von Nebula. Following Von Nebula's alliance with the Brains, Core Hunter was barred from entering the Citadel by the Brains, as he had been arguing with two Brains who denied him access to the testing laboratory. When the Alpha Team encountered him, they attempted to persuade him to assist them in returning to the prime reality and thwarting the Brains' intentions.

Initially, Core Hunter refused their help due to his disdain for the Heroes, but Stormer insisted that he listen. Stormer warned Core Hunter that the Brains intended to destroy the Citadel after achieving their goals. Desperate to survive, Core Hunter ultimately agreed to aid Alpha Team. He led the Alpha 1 Team to the Citadel's armory, where their stolen weapons were stored. After reclaiming their weapons, Core Hunter convinced the two Brains guarding the testing laboratory to let their guard down, enabling the prime reality Stormer to incapacitate them so that he and the Alpha Team can enter the room. Core Hunter urges the Heroes to eliminate the Brains, but they refuse. In a turn of events, the prime reality William Furno also knocked Core Hunter unconscious before the Alpha 1 Team entered the testing laboratory. When he later regained consciousness, Core Hunter joined the fight against the Brains; however, he was killed in the battle.

Personality and Traits[]

Core Hunter is a highly methodical and precise villain, known for his surgical intelligence and perfectionist attitude toward his nefarious pursuits. His obsession with collecting Hero Cores has become his defining criminal specialty, driving him to seek out more and more to add to his impressive collection. Devious by nature, he takes great pride in his ability to anticipate the actions of Heroes and set traps for them. His belief in his own power as a villain fuels his motivation, and he becomes easily frustrated by any oppression, particularly when Stormer dismisses him as merely a small-time criminal. Despite his villainous nature, Core Hunter is not completely devoid of empathy; he often pleads for his life in perilous situations, such as when activating the Doom Box, revealing his instinctive desire to survive.

Weapons[]

Core Hunter carries a Plasma Shooter in his right hand, which he has way before the invention of Plasma Guns during the Breakout era. He wields a Hero Core Remover Tool on his left hand which can remove any hero core easily without destroying it in the process. He also wears a Multi Vision Mask, which uses infrared, x-ray, and ESP in the goggles to scan his enemies' mental and physical strength and weakness as well as working day and night while also capable of communicating with Heroes through their helmets and block Hero Factory sensors and calls for back-up.
