The Meteor Blaster is one of the most well known versatile weapons in the Hero Factory Universe. Favored primarily by villains, it has cemented its place as a staple in their arsenals due to its reliability, adaptability, and ease of acquisition. The weapon is widely recognized for its ability to launch small, high-energy projectiles with remarkable speed and precision. Its design and functionality make it suitable for a variety of combat scenarios, from ranged assaults to destructive bombardments.
The Meteor Blaster’s prevalence among villains has made it a common sight in battles against the Hero Factory, with notable users including members of Von Nebula’s group—Corroder, Meltdown, Rotor, Thunder, and XPlode. Its reputation extends further, with other notorious villains like Witch Doctor, Splitface, and the Fire Villains adopting customized versions of the weapon for their unique needs. Surprisingly, even Hero Factory itself has utilized the weapon’s blueprint, modifying it into Plasma Guns for their heroes along with hero Daniel Rocka briefly using a spare Metoer Blaster in his dual against the Witch Doctor.
Users and Customizations[]
The Meteor Blaster’s modular design has allowed many villains to modify and personalize it for specialized purposes. Here are some notable examples of its use:
- Von Nebula’s Group:
- Members of this villainous faction frequently wield standard or lightly modified Meteor Blasters. These weapons provide them with an effective balance of destructive power and simplicity in combat.
- XPlode briefly wielded a large Meteor Blaster that he modified with a blade affixed to the bottom, enabling him to switch seamlessly between ranged and melee combat during his encounter with the Alpha 1 team on Lemus 2.
- Meltdown personalized his Meteor Blaster by converting it into a Radioactive Sludge Shooter, capable of emitting toxic, corrosive substances to incapacitate and damage his foes.
- Witch Doctor:
- This master villain is known for stealing two Meteor Blasters and creatively reconfiguring them. He transformed one into a shield, enhancing his defensive capabilities, while the second was implanted onto a Scorpio’s tail, turning the creature into a deadly, weaponized ally.
- Legion Of Darkness:
- Splitface obtained two Meteor Blasters and made significant modifications. He transformed one into an Insecticide Cannon, a highly specialized weapon designed for destructive insectoid-themed attacks. The other was sold to his ally Voltix, who adapted it into his signature Volt Blaster.
- The Fire Villains:
- This group of pyro-themed antagonists is infamous for their upgraded Meteor Blasters. They retrofitted the standard model into the Lava Sphere Shooter, a devastating weapon capable of launching molten projectiles. These enhanced blasters can melt through nearly any material, making them particularly dangerous to both heroes and structures.
Functionality[]
The core functionality of the Meteor Blaster revolves around its ability to fire high-temperature, combustible projectiles. The weapon is equipped with pincer-like ends at the front, which concentrate and project blasts of energy. These blasts are launched at high speeds, making them effective in both direct engagements and suppressive fire. Meteor Blaster can also be modified to suit the user's need:
Standard Blaster Features:[]
- Fires small, energy-based projectiles.
- Combines simplicity with destructive power, making it a popular choice for villains.
- Highly reliable and easy to operate, even under intense battle conditions.
Customizations[]
The Meteor Blaster is highly adaptable, allowing users to modify its appearance and functionality to suit their unique fighting styles and preferences. Common customizations include:
- Explosive Orbs and Energy Spheres:
- High-profile villains often upgrade their Meteor Blasters to fire more sophisticated and destructive projectiles, such as explosive orbs, to maximize damage and intimidation.
- Specialized Ammunition:
- The Fire Villains’ Lava Sphere Shooter modification showcases the potential to upgrade the weapon for unique ammunition types, such as lava rounds capable of melting through virtually any material.
- Additional Attachments:
- Blades, shields, and other attachments can be added to enhance the weapon’s versatility. XPlode’s blade modification and Witch Doctor’s shield conversion are prime examples.
- Compact Variants:
- The compact, handheld version of the Meteor Blaster, as used by Rotor, provides enhanced portability for quick-draw scenarios, albeit with slightly reduced power. this variant was briefly used by Rotor during his confrontation with the Alpha 1 Team on Merak 9, along with a ackheld variant used by Speeda Demon during his chase with Preston Stormer on Kollix IV.
The Meteor Blaster is a weapon used by various villains including Corroder, Meltdown, Rotor, Thunder, and XPlode, as well as many other Villains. Witch Doctor stole two and converted one into a shield, while he implanted the other one on a Scorpio's tail. Splitface also got ahold of two and turned it into his Insecticide Cannon, while he sold the other one to his partner Voltix and he turned it into his Volt Blaster. The Fire Villains also got a hold of them and upgraded them into a much more powerful Lava Sphere Shooter.
Set Information[]

Piece 64275
The Meteor Blaster is typically composed of 4 pieces, two 64275 pieces which are spaced two studs apart and attached to the set by one or two axles. The launcher is fired by squeezing the midsection, launching the included ammo/ball piece, that comes in a variety of colours, from the pinchers of the weapon outwards for added play value. It was included in almost all villain sets, which were released as part of the Hero Factory line from 2010 up until the theme's end in 2014 .

HeroFactory.com Description[]
A favorite of villains everywhere, the Meteor Blaster is a basic weapon for the cost-conscious bad guy. Effective but lacking in style, the Meteor Blaster comes in several models, from the Dartshooter to the Phlinger to the Lobber. Many villains modify their Blasters to suit their personality.
These basic blasters may not look like much, but they get the job done. Another benefit for the average villain is its ability to use pretty much anything as a projectile; no special sphere is needed. Rocks, chunks of buildings, or even bits of themselves that have fallen off can be fired from a meteor blaster. Of course, the more successful villains use top-shelf explosive orbs or energy spheres, but that’s just being showy.
