XPlode is a Villain in the Hero Factory Universe, serving under Von Nebula's gang and forming as a secondary/minor antagonist in Rise of the Rookies.

Biography

Career

During his crime spree, XPlode managed to amass an enormous fortune from his heist of various explosives arms, which he primarily prioritizes, becoming a multi-millionaire many times over through his activities. His actions were so widespread and notorious that authorities on every inhabited planet within a 10,000-light-year radius issued warrants for his arrest, marking him as one of the most wanted criminals in the galaxy. His reputation eventually caught the attention of the infamous Von Nebula, who frequently hired him for challenging and unusual missions that required his particular set of skills. However, Von Nebula wasn't entirely trusting of XPlode's unpredictable nature. To ensure that XPlode stayed under control and followed orders, Von Nebula eventually appointed Rotor, another trusted operative, to act as XPlode's assistant and keep an eye on him.

Rise of the Rookies

Merak 9

While Heroes Dunkan Bulk and Jimi Stringer, led by Alpha 1 team leader Preston Stormer, are dispatched to Merak 9 to escort a cargo hold containing C-4000 explosives, Xplode and Rotor are preparing to raid the ship and steal the explosives. Initially, Rotor is deterred by Xplode's observation that the shipment is too small for their liking, yet they proceed with their plan regardless. AS Rotor made his presence and began the battle with the Heroes, XPlode eventually made his entrance, appearing from his hiding position from one of the mine tunnels ahead riding his Vehicle. Xplode then spots and charges at Stormer at full speed only for the Alpha Leader to jump duck from the oncoming attack. Upon entering the scene, Xplode gauntly greets the Hero before firing his Meteor Blaster at him, causing him to seek shelter behind a nearby cargo holder.

XPlode Attacking Stormer

Xplode battling Stormer

As Xplode fires away at presumably Stormer, (offscreen) Bulk and Stringer watch from behind a crate planning to ambush him. As Rotor discovers them and battles Bulk, Xplode comes face to face with Stringer, charging right at him, to which Xplode returns fire, sending the Hero crashing to the ground off the close ledge he was atop if. Before he can finish Stringer, Stromer aids Stinger and scares Xplode away. Seeking refuge in a nearby tunnel, Stormer, Bulk, and the injured Stringer prepare for a counterattack from the villains, only to find themselves under a barrage of fire from the duo.

Stormer breaks away from the trio and finally stands up for himself before revealing himself and shooting a frost bolt from his Multi-Functional Ice Weapon, completely freezing Xplode's Meteor blaster beyond repair, to which he then discards it. Xplode then Battles the hero in melee combat with his Spiked club, landing hit after hit on the Hero. When the battle eventually goes sour for XPlode after getting his Club wrested out of his hands, the criminal unleashes his Explosive Spike Missiles as a last resort at the Hero, giving him the chance to selfishly abandon Rotor and escape the scene.

Lemus 2

Xplode and Rotor at the Explosives Plant

A few days later, Xplode reappears on Lemus 2, regrouped with Rotor, stealing from the Explosives Plant as they should've done from the start instead of preying on the small shipment of C-4000 back on Merak as Xplode rightfully voiced. As the duo prepares their supplies and Rotor bitterly remarks on Xplode's previous selfish action, the both of them notice a falling Hero Pod set as a diversion for the Heroes to land safely. Upon the Heroes finally revealing themselves, the duo initiates their second encounter with the heroes. Eventually, Xplode appoints Rotor to focus their power on knocking Stormer out of the fight and with their combined focused power, temporarily decommission Stormer out of the fight. As the fight rages on, William Furno gains an advantage with his Bike, emerging from the terrain and unleashing a barrage of grenades at the duo. In another selfish move, XPlode pushes Rotor into Furno's oncoming grenades before ditching him yet again. Xplode leaps away to the Explosives and attempts to smuggle them out of the fight, only to be stopped short by Mark Surge who fires a warning shot at him. Xplode then initiates ''Plan B'' and dodges all of Surge's incoming attacks before successfully fleeing the scene once again upon his Vehicle.

Deltari

At some point after this, XPlode and the other villains were led by Von Nebula to raid the Deltari Quadrant. Their mission was a success as they managed to steal an entire stockpile of palomino diamonds. The exact purpose of these diamonds remains unclear, but it is widely speculated that they were intended to further bolster XPlode's already massive and ill-gotten fortune.

New Stellac City

Explosive Spikes

XPlode in New Stellac City

Later that week, Xplode along with fellow gang member Meltdown were sent to New Stellac City, where they assisted villains, Corroder and Thunder to battle the Alpha 1 Team. The battle had turned in the villain's favor when Von Nebula's Blackhole appeared and sucked up all of the Hero's weapons, leaving them defenseless now left to play ¨moving target¨. Eventually, the villains all ran out of ammo allowing the heroes to surprise and knock out three of the villains. However as Xplode's voice roars across the battlefield, he boasts how he is also a weapon, before again unleashing his Explosive Spike-Missiles directly towards the unarmed team of Heroes. In a nick of time, the Team all use their Particle Separators assigned to them to evade the oncoming barrage of missiles. As the smoke clears, Xplode laughs away in supposed triumph only for Stringer to appear from the clouds unscathed and punches Xplode square in the face, sending him flying and landing right next to Hero Natalie Breez incapacitated until Stringer and Bulk took and wrapped a piece of metal from the city's Drone monument around them, trapping the Villains. Xplode was stripped of his weapons including his regained Meteor Blaster and, along with the other villains, was imprisoned at the Villain Storage Facility.

Breakout

Xplode in Prison

Some years later, Xplode, along with all the other villains within the Villain Storage Facility, escaped during the mass breakout Voltix and Black Phantom created using Von Nebula's Black Hole Orb Staff and, after briefly brushing part Hero Daniel Rocka, made his getaway to continue his crimes. It is unknown whether or not Xplode and Rotor re-united for their mischievous schemes. However, Xplode has been revealed to be one of the many criminals successfully recaught and brought back to Hero Factory, as shown at the end of the Breakout TV Movie. He has been in custody since.

Personality and Traits

XPlode is a formidable figure within the underworld, commanding respect and fear as a criminal mastermind in his own right. Despite his independent streak, he is not above aligning himself with greater powers like Von Nebula, provided the mission is intriguing and the payout is substantial enough to pique his interest. XPlode thrives on chaos, using his sharp instincts and extensive experience to navigate the criminal underworld. His many exploits have honed his skills in strategy and self-preservation, giving him a keen sense of when to engage in a fight and when to make a tactical retreat to survive another day.

However, XPlode’s volatile temper is both a strength and a flaw. His quick fuse makes him unpredictable and dangerous to allies and enemies alike, es. He is fiercely self-serving, with little regard for loyalty, a trait exemplified by his betrayal of his former accomplice, Rotor—not once, but twice. XPlode sees other villains as tools or obstacles, and he will not hesitate to double-cross them if it serves his interests or grants him a tactical edge. This ruthless pragmatism, coupled with his fiery personality, cements his reputation as a villain you can never fully trust, even if he appears to be on your side.

Appearance

Xplode dawn's rusty red/ maroon and black armour while his shoulders and back are covered with bright yellow Explosive Spikes in which he launches at a form of attack and can be used as defence. His head shares the same shape of that of a Bionicle (pays homage/is inspired by the Pirkaka along with Tuma) with bright red eyes in the TV show while having yellow eyes in his Lego set

Weapons

XPlode carried a Spiked Club for close quarter combat and melee as well as a Meteor Blaster he primarily uses for medium to long range encounters. Briefly, he also wielded a larger, bladed version of the Meteor Blaster which he uses to decommission stormer during their encounter on Lemus 2, however he discarded the weapon after dumping Rotor and escaping yet again.

Kelly McKiernan, manager for the Hero Factory website, combined XPlode's set with Corroder's in order to create Crunchy. However, Crunchy was merely built to demonstrate the proper techniques for taking a photograph for HeroFactory.com's gallery, thus no instructions were ever made for the combiner model.
